Good job D!

Analyzing it another way, look at the early era winners:

1968: 3 shows (15 listers!)
1969: 1 show (5 listers!)
1970: 4 shows (17 listers!)
1971: 1 show (4 listers!)
1972: 2 shows (9 listers!)
1973: 1 show (4 listers!)
1974: 1 show (4 listers!)
1977: 2 shows (8 listers!)

Clearly, the early era wins.

Don't try to ma-NIP-u-LATE these statistics to your own warped sense of history. The numbers are clear. The DEAD ceased to exist post 77. Oh...crap. The didn't exist in 66 either!

I hate polls. Oh well, at least my two favorite years, 68 & 70, are the highest...or is that just cause I posted mine to start?

As a die-hard Boston Bruins fan (amazed at how the team after nearly 2 decades of futility is kicking butt this year) this heavy late-60's tallying smacks of the internet flood-voting Montreal Canadiens fans did for this year's NHL all-star game . Carey Price ahead of Tim Thomas in goal? That's nuts!

David Krejci not even playing? Crazy!

(Bonus points for anyone who knows who David Krejci is :-)

Krejci??? what a freakin year he is having.

too bad about Sturm though going down for the count. Atleast Bergeron is "skating" - need him down the stretch

(and, no, no bonus points for me - i live in MA)

:)

doesn't matter, Dire...you still get the points.

Plenty of Mass. sports fans left the B's for dead long ago (I came close a few times myself) and have no idea how good that young Czech really is (Dewd gets points as well despite being an Isles fan...actually, I'd almost feel sorry for him if not for the 4 straight Cup wins in the 80's...The Isles are a sad sack these days)...

Krejci may be on the way to becoming the best assist guy since Adam Oates & DK's only 22.

Losing Sturm was tough, and Ward keeps getting hurt...BUT Ferrence was having a great year before he went down & should be back soon,...hopefully Kessel's mono is just a bump in the road & he'll be back in form by playoffs....I'm holding out hope for Bergy but the concussion bug is pretty scary...there's talk of a possible move to get Lecalvier which would actually prove that they WANT to win a Cup for the first time in 37 years, but we'll see....hope they don't do so at the expense of any serious young talent (altho' I would trade Lucic to get Vinny).

Best line in hockey right now may just be Wheeler/Krejci/Ryder.

Guess I should have labelled this "non-Dead"...hmmmm...how can I tie this in?

How about a cup-related line from Ripple:

"Reach out your hand/If your Cup be empty..."

and the Bruins Cup has been since 1972, so...let's Go Bruins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nice job gettin Ripple in there - mondo style points on that one :)

I forgot about the whole Lecalier possibility - but you are right - no way trade ML (though a GM i am not)

almost forgot about Ferrence coming back from his busted leg - that will be a HUGE boost to the D getting that lad back on the ice.

tellin' ya - B's got a real shot this year if Thomas and Fernandez keep playin like they have (assuming MF comes back from injury as is)

I would hate to see Bergy not be able to come back - you nailed it with how scary those injuries are. Nice to see Thomas get rough with the head smack after Ward got drilled during the Habs game though. Love Tim's spirit and spunk!!!!

All that I can say is that I truly hope that the BlackHawks can give those Wings a run for their money this year.

It's been so long since we've had a team worth cheering. I think that Doug Wilson was still playing. Remember him?

During those years, I lived about 2 miles from the Old Chicago Stadium. Talk about barns!!! My roommate or I would, at 7pm say Wanna go to a game, and we'd be in our seats by the 7:20 face off.

Not just those Hawks teams, but the Bulls, just before things went batshit for the Bulls. Michael was playing, and brilliant, but there hadn't been any championships yet.

Oh what heady times to be a Chicagoan...

Hawks and B's are very similar franchises: Both Original 6 teams with an insane, if dwindling, fan base that's been cheated for YEARS by HORRIBLE management.... let the debate begin who's more despicable: the Wirth or Jacobs families....both teams are on ridiculous Cup droughts (Bruins 1972, Hawks 1961) but to see both teams playing so well now just feels right.

Could you imagine how nuts (and how great for the NHL) a Bruins-Hawks Cup Final would be?

btw, the Winter Outdoor Classic was awesome...love the old school unis both teams wore.

now i WOULD pay $100 for a ticket to see a B's Hawks finals game (as opposed to the Geriatric Dead)

you are dead on - that would be a classic matchup and great for the league

Hey Bruins' fans, I'm in charge of running an online auction for the Monterey County Film Commission and one of the items we have up for bid is a Bobby Orr signed photo of "the goal" (If you have to ask, you're not a Bruins' fan). Going to add a signed David Ortiz jersey to the auction site next week. Anyway, shameless plug:

http://www.filmmonterey.org/events/big_night_gala_online-auction.htm (hit link for auction - or go to this one:
http://www.cmarket.com/auction/item/Browse.action?auctionId=68894624
Note this is not yet live and I'll fix stuff over coming days before it goes live on 2/2, but since you're talking hockey, I saw an opening....

You're tempting me with a signed Orr print during a recession? You are evil, sir...evil! (although it is for charity, yes?) I'll check it out.

One million bonus points for anyone who can name the St. Louis Blues player who trips Orr as he scored the game-winner and unwittingly helps create the single greatest hockey photo in NHL history.

"useless" would be a better word than "superior" for my hockey knowledge.

It was the immortal Noel Picard who tripped up Orr after The Goal and helped give us the amazing flying Orr frozen in time.

Dude but is 68-10-12 really better than 68-10-13 that's the real question for this Primal Dead neophyte anyway.

I think they are really close, but I give the edge to 10/12.
I used to do back to back comparisons, in which my opinion fluctuated, but I came to enjoy the 12th just a little bit more.

You are probably right but I'm listening to 10-13 right now and at this moment it is "the best show ever" for me so it wins in my book of records today although tomorrow I might listen to 10-12 again and change. The chicken or the egg comes to mind about now.

Ha! The only thing that bugged me about 10-13 is the opening, one min dropout for DS (Miller's recent effort largely repaired this) and the slightly odd start to StSt (just compare the first minute of those two songs too).

Otherwise, a toss up, but somehow those very minor imperfections, right at the beginning of two important songs, tainted it for me over the years, and I gave the nod to 12. Perhaps there are other glitches I have missed later in the set that are not present on the 13th...

Yea I'm listening to the New miller version now and yes you are right the beginning of St Steven is the weakness but the end feedback is king in my books. Sounds like an Orchestra tuning at times but this is where it gets really subjective for sure.

Yep, and someone in the know mentioned the 11 is better but I haven't compared them closely to evaluate. The dude seemed to be confident of it. I do know that I always thought the one from 2-11-69 is outstanding, so a killer 11 is a real plus. Hmmm, the 11 is better on the 13 rather than the 12.
